Earlier this month, however, rumors circulated that suggested the game might hit on March 10. Granted, the source of the rumor was an odd telephone hotline, but it actually seemed legitimate given the franchise.

Today, though, courtesy of the official Hotline Miami twitter account, the aforementioned date was confirmed, with the game on track to launch on PC, Mac and PlayStation hardware. Those that feel so inclined can pre-order the game through Steam, the Humble Store or GOG at discount of 10% off. The Digital Special Edition is also available, which comes with the Hotline Miami 2 Wrong Number Remix EP, as well as the Payday 2 “Jacket Character Pack” as part of a collaboration between OVERKILL Software and Dennaton Games; the perfect addition if you’re still playing Payday 2.

Additionally, and according to Devolver Digital, the brutal, top-down game is already #2 on the Steam top sellers list, with the Homeworld Remastered Collection being the only thing standing between it and the top spot. Perhaps the game’s fanbase can push it to #1 before the day’s over.

To help pass the time until next month, be sure to revisit this particular live-action short, and past gameplay videos that spotlight the soundtrack (which is sure to become as popular as its predecessor) and level editor. Post-launch, and after people have finished the game, the level editor will be the best tool players have to keep the violent fun going.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number finally launches on March 10, 2015 for PC, Mac, PS3, PS4 and PS Vita. Australian players will have to find other means of acquiring the game, however, as it was refused classification by the Australian Classification Board, claiming the game deals will “matters of sex, drug misuse or addition, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena.”
